The Mandan Police Department follows the guidelines established in the North Dakota Century Code 36-21.2-08. This ordinance requires law enforcement to contact the owners of abandoned animals if known, and make public notification of abandoned animals which is done on our animal control Facebook page (Link at bottom of this page). If after 5 days the owner does not claim the animal, Mandan Police will attempt to turn the animal over to an adoption facility if possible or humanely euthanize the animal
The following fees apply if your pet is picked up by the Mandan Police Department.
If your animal has a current license, the pick up fee is $15.00 (Must have its tags on.)
If your animal does not have a current license or is not wearing its tags the pickup fee is $35.00.
The Impound fee: $20.00 per day added to above cost if at Bismarck Impound.
NOTE: You will be required to license your pet within 10 days of claiming your pet.
1 year license is $6.00
2 year license is $10.00
3 year license is $15.00
NOTE: Prior to obtaining a license your pet must be current on all required vaccinations.
